An album cover is the font of the
packaging of a commercially-released audio recording product, or album.
I will be exploring the various
album covers of differet styles and layouts. I will need to explore these
aspects to help develop and gain ideas for when it comes to creating my own CD
cover.
CD cover serves for 3 main purposes
1. To advertise and identify the
contents of the music product
2. To convey to artistic aspirations
of the original artist
3. In reproductions of artwork, to
serve as a primary image in the promotional efforts surrounding the product, as
an identifiable image associated with it.

Different Types of CD Album Cover
Portrait – Particularly consistent
on Album covers promoting sole artists. The viewer is forced to look directly
at the face on the cover, helping them to focus completely on them with no
distraction.
Type Based – Some album cover
designs are devoted entirely to writing.
Digital – Exhibits animated images,
which is thought to attract younger audience
Minimalist – Covers are designed to
be minimalistic are generally hit-or-miss
For my album cover, I am planning on conforming to a portrait based album cover because I believe that it is very beneficial for solo artists, because it allows the audience to 'focus on them completely with no distraction'
What is a Digipak?
It seems that I did not fully understand what a Digipak was, I thought a digipak, was just another word for an album cover, that involved the front cover and the back cover
This is what i found on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digipak), after typing in what is a digipak...
Digipaks typically consist of a gate-fold (book-style) paper board or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.
After reading this, I then understood that a digipak is more than just the front cover and back cover however it resembles a book-style card, binded with bind.. To gain full understanding I then researched on google images what an album digipak actually looked like
I found this...
Now I understand what a digipak actually looks like, I will ensure that I creatively construct not only a front cover and a back cover, I will also construct the inside of a digipak, accompanied with a spine.
